Karmaing Police station attacked and burned aground by KIA terrorists

Nay Pyi Daw   - January 19

The KIA – the so called Kachin Independence Army has been launching a terror campaign and various acts of terrorism, endangering the livelihood of the local residents since many years ago, a fact local and international mainstream never bothered to report.
The latest act of terror was the attack on the Karmaing police station in Kachin state where more than 100 Kachin rebels attacked, occupied and burned the buildings to ground early morning today. The poorly armed and defended police station was attacked at 4:55 am by about 100 KIA rebels. The tiny police force within the station defended the post until 7:20 am and had to withdraw due to overwhelming strength of the attacking rebels, after which the KIAs entered the police station and burned most of the buildings.
As a result of this ferocious attack, one corporal and one lance corporal from the Myanmar Police Force have to sacrifice their lives while one police officer and 4 policemen were injured. 2 weapons were lost together with the burnt down of the police station itself and family quarters. Non- governmental buildings as well as privately own cars were also destroye4d and burned.  Army columns are in hot pursuit of the fleeing KIA units, it was reported.
A unilateral cease fire was announced by the Myanmar government Ministry of Information on January 18, 2013. This attack, just hours after the unilateral cease- fire announcement, has made the local residents feel insecure, desperate and made further disappointment towards the KIA. The KIA was widely and strongly condemned across the whole of Kachin for such atrocities, a disappointing and sad fact which was never reported by the mainstream media.
